Long-Lasting Timbers

We’ve searched the world over to source an impressive selection of kiln dried hardwoods, softwoods and even engineered timbers including the very latest exotic and exclusive varieties – including Tuscany, Morocco, and Brasillica from Lignia.

We employ innovative engineering methods to ensure that timber is as durable as possible and once crafted, your bespoke windows and doors can be finished in any colour or stain, each one designed to offer the maximum resistance to the elements. Our materials are completely sustainable and grown in managed-forests as part of our commitment to the environment.

Engineered Timber

Throughout our manufacturing process we strive to lead the market with new developments, and the use of Engineered timbers within our products is key.

Carey & Fox have been using engineered timber stocks for a number of years and have been instrumental in leading the industry to adopt these raw materials.

Engineered timber benefits;

  • It’s stronger: because of it’s multi-layer engineered construction
  • It’s more stable: because its not like solid timber that tends to distort as it absorbs or expels moisture as it encounters various temperature changes: hence it is less likely to shrink or swell after installation
  • It creates less wastage: because it eliminates removing defects coming to you already clear of knots, splits and sapwood
  • It streamlines manufacture: because it is supplied in uniform sections, that can go into making the finished product the minute they are delivered, it creates a cleaner working environment
  • It’s reliable: because the construction ensures the quality is consistently maintained throughout
  • It’s ‘greener’: because it is 100% FSC certified, produces a much more efficient use of the logs and reduces the need for unnecessary raw material stock-holding

LigniaXD – ’50 Year written warranty’

For centuries timber has been prized for it’s beauty and endurance, however demand for premium hardwood has put enormous strain on natural resources.

Modified timber is a genuine alternative to hardwood, sourced from sustainable forests and treated in a controlled environment to improve performance thereby creating a timber which can often exceed the performance of many traditional hardwoods.

With outstanding sourcing credentials Lignia® and Lignia XD® are premium timbers which have been created from certified sawn plantation timber with colour and performance locked into the core. This ensures that this timber engineering is fit for purpose, plentiful and sustainable. Above all it is simply quite beautiful and we have exclusivity on it in the UK for our sector. Accoya® wood is the result of decades of research and development that has brought together a long-established, extensively proven wood modification technique and leading-edge patented technology – acetylation to create a high performance wood, ideal for outdoor use and challenging applications.

Accoya® has properties that match or exceed those of the best tropical hardwoods and treated woods, yet is manufactured using wood from sustainable sources.

Already the material of choice for a wide range of demanding outdoor applications, Accoya® wood can be used for virtually anything from windows to doors, decking to cladding, bridges to boats and even for applications that are presently only feasible with non-sustainable and man-made materials.
